CHAPTER HISTORY

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Beta Omicron Zeta chapter was chartered on
March 3, 1945 in Detroit, Michigan - making it the first graduate chapter of Zeta in the state of Michigan. Organized by Soror Mary Watson Stewart, the chapter set out to be the best representation of women in the Metro area. Among the many highlights of the chapter's history are:

Chartering of the Xi Chapter (citywide undergraduate chapter)

Chartering of the Theta Delta Chapter (Wayne State University)

Chartering of the Theta Xi Chapter (University of Detroit-Mercy)

Opening two Stork's Nests in Detroit (1976 & 1980)

Incorporating of the chapter in 1983

Recognized by the Detroit 300 for over 50 years of service to the community in 2001

Being named 2013 "Power Partner of the Year" by the SE Michigan affiliate of the American Heart Association
